"Growing" Christmas table decor
HEYGEN x SKANDIAMO
15th DECEMBER 2023
Each year before the festive season, SKANDIAMO unveils holiday decor inspirations from the #designinspires collection.
"Nurturing this acclaimed inspiration series for several years with talented Lithuanian creators has been a joy. Emerging from growth and a desire to share, its widespread popularity justifies the idea’s significance for us" – states Laima Aleknavičienė, Skandiamo's Marketing Manager, about #designinspires.
"This year, our creative collaboration was with Jolita, founder of floristry studio HEYGEN. Jolita, with her distinct style, effortlessly creates dried plant compositions or blends of live and dried botanicals. "These compositions resonate with today's focus on reducing environmental impact and choosing sustainable solutions."
The inspiration's creator, HEYGEN founder Jolita Šimelionienė, shares her thoughts: "The holiday anticipation subtly draws you in. Caught in the whirlwind of gift searching, we rarely pause to feel the joy of the impending celebrations."
The concept of a growing Christmas table decor emerged from a wish to embrace the nuances of festive preparation and anticipation.
I initially designed an openwork and airy decor version, with an organic branch and potted plants, as a nod to the forthcoming celebrations.
Later, the table decor expands, enriched with additional greenery. As the holidays near, it reaches its zenith with the striking Danish company Fritz Hansen vase Ikebana and other accessories.
You can begin crafting your growing Christmas table decor at the start of December. Start with selecting enduring potted plants, candlesticks, and embellishments that remain visually unchanged over time.
Gradually enhance this decor nearer to the festivities adding elements like candles, twigs or pine cones from woodland walks, and perhaps ribbons. The evolving decor will fill the festive season with joyful anticipation.
Just before the festivities, take a moment to finalise the decor - you can now complement it with live flowers placed in Vases and other less durable details, like paper cut-outs or shaped biscuits.
We wish you a joyous anticipation and celebration of the holidays.
