Created by the legendary American designer George Nelson in 1947 and first produced in 1952, the NELSON BUBBLE lamp collection combines classic design sentiments with a dynamic spirit of innovation. Inspired by a luxurious spherical lamp with a silk shade he saw in Sweden, George Nelson began to explore alternatives: what matter could provide equally atmospheric lighting but at a much lower cost. This brilliant idea led to an innovative solution, and Nelson was the first to employ a material used in US naval shipbuilding, a sprayed plastic polymer, in the lamp's construction. The material applied to the metal frame forms a durable, lightweight, and transparent shell, allowing for freedom in shape and size, and is ideal for crafting spatial light sculptures. The impressive size and unique forms of NELSON bubbles did not go unnoticed, becoming a true icon of modern design. NELSON CIGAR CRISSCROSS BUBBLE is a variant that stands out with its elongated, cigar-like shape and distinctive crisscross pattern. Wonderfully filling the vertical spaces of taller rooms, when paired with other NELSON BUBBLE lights, it creates a multidimensional lighting effect. Available in various sizes.
