A dream home is fertile ground for nurturing yourself and your relationships. How do you create such a space?

Coco Chanel once stated: "An interior is a natural projection of the soul." Indeed, as we coat the walls of our new homes with fresh paint, we unknowingly carry on colouring them with all the shades of our emotions and life events. So, when designing a new home's interior, how can you create an environment that becomes not only a dependable partner in your daily routine but also inspires ongoing growth and personal development?
Start with a concept
Whether you are creating a home yourself or enlisting the help of professionals, before starting, ask yourself: why do YOU need a home? It might seem obvious, yet it's certainly worth pondering this question. The answer will guide your priorities and help shed any stereotypes you may have unknowingly accepted. By attentively observing your behaviour and habits over a few days, you will identify which area in your home is most essential and which may not be needed at all. Remember, it's people who create comfort, so in spaces where you aren't present, comfort won't exist.
Creativity is akin to a good stew.
It requires time. So if you have the opportunity, don't rush. Recognise that the process of home creation will yield the best results if it is methodical, thoughtful, and clear-cut. Don't expect to select all the furniture you need in a single visit to an interior showroom or online store. Acquire a few pivotal pieces of furniture, decide on dominant colours and finishes, and observe how they function in the new space, noting any missing accents or features. Allow yourself the flexibility to change your mind, to alter your decisions. If you can't find an important piece of furniture that truly resonates with you, perhaps it's worth resisting the allure of newness and living with the old for a while?
Character and individuality
Are you enchanted by a particular design style? Dreaming of an interior straight from a magazine cover? Wonderful! However, don't shy away from infusing your home with authentic character. Allocate space not just for functionality or daily use, but also for elements that express your personality. An impressive accent bookshelf, a meditation-dedicated lounge, or a professionally outfitted, restaurant-grade kitchen – let your home reflect you, not a particular trend. After all, a clock inspires not with its precision, but with its ticking!
Energy of materials
When designing interiors, remember that humans thrive in nature because we are part of it. Opt for as many natural materials as possible in your home decor, and you'll soon feel their positive energetic impact. Wood, metal, stone, cotton, wool, or leather are inherently beautiful, durable materials that naturally develop character over time. Modern synthetic materials indeed offer numerous benefits and can enhance interiors, especially where practicality is key, but it's wise to find a balance between "artificial" and "natural."
The phenomenon of Scandinavian design
It's not about being white. Nor is it merely about minimalism. Scandinavian design philosophy is based on subtlety, rationality, and moderation. This method greatly enhances modern wellbeing – make use of it! In today’s over-stimulated world, a clean, uncluttered home helps maintain balance, eases relaxation, and brings calm and comfort. Embrace Scandinavian minimalism, discern between "I want more" and "that’s enough," and once satisfied, fill your home with tranquillity and satisfaction, rather than belongings.
