The design studio „Scholten & Baijings“ was founded in 2000 in Amsterdam by designers Stefan Scholten (born 1972) and Carole Baijings (born 1973). Stefan Scholten graduated from the Eindhoven Academy of Design in the Netherlands, while Carole Baijings is a self-taught designer. Initially, the duo behind „Scholten & Baijings“ worked on different projects where they aimed to separate and clarify autonomous and existing forms. Some of their works are displayed at the „Centraal“ Museum in Utrecht, the „Stedelijk“ Museum in Amsterdam, and the Netherlands Textile Museum in Tilburg. However, their focus increasingly shifted towards interior design, as evidenced by their works created for manufacturers like „Van Esch“, „Gelderland“, and „Hay“. The creations of „Scholten & Baijings“ are often handmade, combining traditional forms with expressive and striking lines. They use effects such as light, color, transparency, and layering, while patterns remain minimalist and are combined with unexpected color pairings. The color and graphic patterns range from soft pastels to vibrant, glowing hues.
