Paul McCobb (1917–1969) was a self-taught American furniture designer born in Boston. In search of greater career opportunities, he moved to New York, where he established his own design studio in 1945. While his fame never reached major heights during his lifetime, his work is now highly regarded and experiencing a resurgence in appreciation. A defining feature of Paul McCobb’s design is his ability to make heavy objects appear visually weightless. His most well-known works include the „Planner“, „Directional“, and „Linear“ collections, which are produced by the Danish company Fritz Hansen.
