Paavo Tynell (1890–1973) was a Finnish designer best known for his exceptional lighting designs. After completing his studies in Helsinki, he founded the Taito design company in 1918, serving as its director until 1958. Through collaborations with various contemporary creators, Tynell rose to prominence as a master of lighting design – often referred to as the man who lit up Finland. His elegant brass lamps gained popularity beyond Finland, and he later began designing for the prestigious American company Lightolier.
