Leon Ransmeier is a New York–based designer, born in 1979. He studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, initially intending to become an architect. However, during his studies, he became captivated by the history of industrial design and decided to change his path. In 2005, Leon founded his own industrial design studio in Lower Manhattan, New York. His work is deeply influenced by his personal philosophy: “If a person cannot appreciate the details, they will never find satisfaction in the whole,” he says. This mindset is evident in his approach to design – he pays close attention to every element, especially the interaction between the human body and the object being used. Leon emphasizes the importance of finding points of contact and a direct connection between the body and the designed object: “This connection is essential to my creative process. Without it, I feel blind.” He has collaborated with major names such as Herman Miller, HAY, and Wright21. His work has been exhibited at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and featured in the Design Triennial at the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York.
