Norwegian designer Kristine Five Melvær (born in 1984) earned her master's degree in industrial design from the Oslo School of Architecture and Design in 2008, and also completed a master's degree in visual communication at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts in 2012. She creates tableware, lighting, furniture, graphic design, and textile objects, working freely across various product categories and materials, aiming to merge two disciplines that often transcend the boundaries of art and graphic design. By exploring the communicative potential of objects, she strives to create emotional connections between the object and the user. Melvær has won multiple awards in both of her disciplines. She designed the JUICE vase for HAY.
