Johan Van Hengel

Johan Van Hengel is a Dutch designer based in Rotterdam. With a background in technical design, he worked in both consumer electronics and furniture before founding his own studio in 2013. Today, he focuses primarily on furniture, lighting, and everyday objects.

His design philosophy:
“I take a logical and investigative approach, driven by a desire to enrich everyday objects with new layers of refinement, individuality, and meaning. I focus on function, significance, and technique – aiming to introduce a subtle element of surprise through familiar forms and objects.”
