Jacques Adnet (1900–1984) was an architect and designer best known for his modernist works in the Art Deco style – considered iconic representations of the French Modernist era. Born near Burgundy, he studied at the School of Decorative Arts in Auxerre and later at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. After completing his studies, Jacques and his twin brother Jean founded the company J. J. ADNET. At just 28, Jacques was appointed director of COMPAGNIE DES ARTS FRANÇAIS (CAF), where he had the ideal environment to refine his skills as a modernist designer. Adnet was known for experimenting with rich wood types and chrome-plated metal, often incorporating elements like mirrors, leather, parchment, and smoked glass into his pieces. He passed away in 1984, leaving behind a legacy of design objects that remain strikingly modern to this day.
