Gabriel Tan’s design can be described as a meeting point of cultures. His constant search for new ideas across different disciplines, along with the reinterpretation of traditions, crafts, and technologies, results in furniture and interior objects created for well-known brands such as BLÅ STATION, MENU, DESIGN WITHIN REACH, THE CONRAN SHOP, ISHINOMAKI LAB, LEMNOS CLOCKS, AUTHENTICS, and ABSTRACTA.
He also leads creative direction for companies like TURN HANDLES, JAPANESE FURNITURE, ARIAKE, and the Portuguese brand ORIGIN. Gabriel Tan’s work has received numerous international awards, been exhibited at major furniture and home design fairs, and alongside his design practice, he lectures at LASALLE College of the Arts, the National University of Singapore, the University of Oregon, and Pratt Institute. He has also served as a judge at the Cannes Lions Festival and the Core77 Design Awards.
