Wim Rietveld (1924–1985) was the son of the legendary Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld. He studied industrial design at the Academy in The Hague and, after graduating, began working for Gispen. He later joined De Cirkel, a steel furniture manufacturer that became part of the Ahrend De Cirkel group. It was here that his fruitful collaboration with architect Friso Kramer (b. 1922) began. Together, they created several pieces now considered design icons, including the RESULT chair (1958). In 2017, the RESULT chair was reissued by manufacturer HAY in collaboration with Ahrend.
