American artist Ethan Cook lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. His chosen medium is large-format canvases –but instead of painting them, he weaves them. Simple geometry, bold colors, and no pursuit of perfection. On the contrary, his work emphasizes natural qualities: the texture of materials, the character of colors, and the imperfections that emerge through the weaving process itself.
In Cook’s hands, the woven fabric is like a sheet of paper fresh from a printer – not inherently valuable or interesting, but a vehicle for conveying deeper, creative ideas. “I see my work as mathematical equations or problems,” he says, “where the solution is based on both logic and emotion.”
