Dimitri Bähler is a Swiss designer living and working in Biel, Switzerland. A graduate of ECAL (2010) and the Design Academy Eindhoven, he opened his own studio in 2014. Bähler has been awarded the Swiss Design Award twice, in 2014 and 2015, and has taken part in several design residencies around the world, including EKWC (European Ceramic Workcentre) in the Netherlands and Ishinomaki Laboratory in Japan. His work is guided by a sensitivity to the expressive power of objects. While often appearing spontaneous, it is grounded in deep research. Ranging from one-off pieces to industrially produced designs, Bähler’s creations explore a balance of naivety and eccentricity. For HAY, he designed the Volet Hook.
