Claus Bonderup (b. 1943) and Torsten Thorup (b. 1944) graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, in 1969 and began their collaboration at the studio of renowned Danish architect Henning Larsen. Throughout most of their careers, the professional duo worked together on a wide range of projects. Their work includes designing clocks and retail displays for Georg Jensen, the Arctic Museum in Finland, and the Elsinore Harbor – where they designed everything from public spaces to ticket kiosks. In the 1980s, they created a lamp for the company Gubi that became a major success, eventually turning into one of the best-selling Danish design products of its time. The lamp gained international recognition and is still considered a design classic today.
