Alfredo Häberli: “When I designed my first glassware collection for the Iittala brand ten years ago, I wanted to change everything. I aimed to introduce a completely new production approach that would allow the creation of high-quality yet affordable glasses. I also wanted to transform the dining table through wine glasses – to turn everything upside down with their form. I replaced traditionally round, feminine shapes with angular, masculine ones. Essence Plus is my attempt to take one step further – to create more refined glasses tailored for true wine lovers. I preserved the essence of the original design but this time chose slightly softer, more feminine curves. Still, I wanted to keep the same perspective I had ten years ago – to create elegant wine glasses. I hope I succeeded. I believe I did.”

Häberli is known for his unique style, marked by playful elements. He is recognized as an expert in working with a wide range of materials. Currently, he collaborates with brands such as Georg Jensen, Kvadrat, Moroso, Schiffini, and Vitra. Among his most notable projects is the 25th Hour hotel, opened in Zurich in 2012. Häberli is also the designer behind Iittala’s well-known Origo collection.
