The "Block Lamp" is a creation by renowned contemporary Finnish designer Harri Koskinen. Since its debut in 1997, it has received numerous awards and, in 2000, was included in the prestigious permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. It is safe to say that this is a collectible design piece.
The idea for the lamp came unexpectedly during a creative workshop at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki, while searching for a wedding gift concept. Its minimalist form and the illusion of a lightbulb "frozen" inside solid glass transformed it into more than just a source of light – it became a design statement, inviting us to rethink the meaning of beauty and functionality.
Hand-shaped glass creates a unique effect of delicate light seemingly suspended in ice.
The "Block Lamp" is a light sculpture that brings a contemporary art sensibility into any interior.
