Inspired by the unique form of one of the oldest marine molluscs, the nautilus, FERM LIVING has crafted the uniquely beautiful SHELL vase. Expressive and captivating from countless angles, SHELL is the outcome of meticulous craftsmanship. It is produced in a charming ceramic factory in Cháozhou, Guangdong Province, China, employing just 60 artisans who are masters of their craft. The process starts with properly preparing the clay: using a vacuum to remove even the tiniest air bubbles, before pressing the vase itself into a special plaster mould. Once shaped, the vase is meticulously inspected by several craftsmen, with minor inaccuracies corrected by hand. Then SHELL is glazed and fired twice in a special kiln, with the final product undergoing another check to ensure both its aesthetic and physical qualities. A result worth the effort, enchanting with its blend of form, texture, and expertise. Light dances impressively across the rippling surface, while shadows create distinctive texture depth.
